Is the course completed fully online?
Yes. The Educator Training Programme is 100% online, so you can complete your learning and assessments from home without attending the academy. You can study flexibly and work through the programme at your own pace.
When can I start?
There are no set start dates. Once you book, you'll receive an email within 24 hours containing your course instructions and everything you need to get started. You can then begin whenever you're ready. Please check your junk/spam folder if you haven't received your email within 24 hours.
Do I need previous teaching experience?
No. The programme is designed for experienced hair and beauty professionals who are new to teaching, as well as those who may already have some informal training experience and would like to develop their educator skills professionally.
What are the entry requirements?
You must be aged 19 or over, hold an appropriate professional qualification in the hair or beauty subject(s) you intend to teach, and have at least 12 months' experience within those subject areas.
What will I learn?
Your Accredited Level 3 Award in Education & Training covers three key areas: roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training; inclusive teaching and learning approaches; and assessment in education and training.
You'll also complete a microteaching activity, giving you the opportunity to put your developing teaching skills into practice.
Is this an Ofqual-regulated qualification?
No. This programme is an accredited Level 3 Award in Education & Training, rather than an Ofqual-regulated qualification. We make this distinction clear so that you know exactly what you are enrolling on.
Can I teach any hair or beauty subject once I have my AET?
No. Your AET develops your knowledge and skills as an educator; it does not qualify you in additional hair or beauty treatments.
You should only teach subjects in which you already hold appropriate professional qualifications, competence and experience.
Will my own courses automatically be accredited once I qualify?
No. Your AET is your educator qualification. Any training courses you create are separate and would need to meet the requirements of your chosen accreditation provider.
That's why your £495 programme includes the THABTA Accreditation & Insurance Toolkit, helping you understand accreditation, course documentation, insurance requirements and the steps involved in developing your own professional training.
What do I receive when I complete the programme?
Once you've successfully completed all required course work and assessments, you'll receive your Accredited Level 3 Award in Education & Training certificate.
You'll also have your THABTA Accreditation & Insurance Toolkit to help you understand the next steps towards delivering your own training.
What's the difference between the £495 (+VAT) and £995 (+VAT) programmes?
The Educator Training Programme is ideal if your main goal is to gain your educator qualification and understand the first steps towards delivering your own training.
The Educator Mentorship Programme is designed for those who want to go considerably further — qualifying as an educator while beginning to build their own professional training business.
The Mentorship includes additional resources covering learning and assessment, course creation, accreditation and insurance, educator marketing and training academy business systems, plus an exclusive THABTA Academy Shadowing Day.

Yes. If you begin with the £495 Educator Training Programme and later decide you'd like more support to develop your own courses and training business, you'll have the opportunity to upgrade to the THABTA Educator Mentorship Programme.
This gives you the freedom to start with the educator qualification and decide later whether you'd like to take the next step.
