CLASS SIZE
At THABTA, we believe that personalised attention is key to mastering beauty skills. That is why we offer small class sizes with a minimum of one and a maximum of four students per session.
This intimate learning environment allows our expert tutors to focus on each individual’s progress, providing hands-on guidance and tailored feedback.
With smaller groups, students have more opportunities to ask questions, practice techniques, and receive one-on-one instruction, ensuring a deeper understanding of the material.
Our goal is to foster confidence and skill development, ensuring every student receives the highest level of support throughout their training journey.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The Scottish Government is currently working towards introducing a Non-Surgical Cosmetic Procedures Bill, which is proposed for May 2026. Based on the information available so far, the Bill will categorise non-surgical aesthetic treatments into ‘groups’ based on their level of invasiveness and risk.
The treatments we cover in our Advanced Skincare Training course- chemical peels and microneedling- are expected to fall under Group 1, which is described in the Governments consultation documents as ‘the least invasive and lowest risk procedures’.
These treatments, under the current proposals, would be permitted to be carried out by skincare therapists in licenced premises and carried out by licenced individuals, with licences issued by the local authority (council).
It is expected that it will be a similar process to applying for a tattoo or piercing licence from your local council.
Group 2 and 3 include higher risk treatments such as injectables (dermal fillers and botulinum toxin- also known as Botox) and the use of prescription only medications. We do not offer training in any of the treatments currently suggested for groups 2 and 3.
As things currently stand, there is no restriction on enrolling in our Advanced Skincare course and no license is required. On successful completion you can obtain insurance and offer these treatments to the public, in line with current regulations.
If the Bill is passed as proposed, it is likely that anyone offering chemical peels and/or microneedling will need to apply for a licence from their local authority (council).
At this stage we do not know what the exact requirements for those licences will be- including whether specific qualifications may be required in the future. You may be required to take on further training at a further cost.
While the stated aim is to protect public safety while supporting responsible businesses, we want to be transparent that future licensing conditions could include additional criteria beyond our training.
We want to be fully transparent and let you know you may be required to take on further training at a further cost to carry out microneedling and chemical peels- or you might not.
We simply do not know at this stage- nobody will know until the Scottish government pass the Bill.
We will continue to monitor developments closely and adapt our training and guidance as more details become available. Again, as things currently stand, there is no restriction on enrolling in our Advanced Skincare course. On successful completion you can obtain insurance and offer these treatments to the public, in line with current regulations.
